THE CREATIVE TRIAD

The physical world is a three-dimensional place. Everything that comes into physical form follows this three-dimensional pattern. Creating “something out of nothing” is actually a three-dimensional activity. At Creative Wonders, we refer to these three dimensions as THE BIG THREE: A CREATIVE TRIAD of ideas, thoughts and actions.

The big three can be found in any area. The names change from discipline to discipline, but the basic meaning behind each of the three dimensions stays consistent. Below are some examples.

The creative triad appears over and over again in all aspects of life because it is a natural law of the universe that is always at work. You don’t have to be conscious of it to have it work. Like the beating of your heart you don’t have to think about it – it just works. The creative laws of the universe are similar. Think of gravity – it works whether or not you are thinking about it.

THE BIG QUESTION

Why do some people seem to create what they want in life with ease, while others struggle and struggle – often becoming frustrated and not achieving their goals?

CONSCIOUS CREATIVITY

To achieve greater success and prosperity we believe it pays to get conscious about the creative process within your business. Creative Wonders calls this process Conscious Creativity, because we stop and take a close look at the creative, marketing and production. Or another way to say it would be: the ideas, the strategy and the execution. After almost three decades of generating ideas, planning campaigns and putting them into action, we have noticed that most people and companies only do two of the three creative dimensions well. When this happens a company’s ability to create momentum or growth seems to flatten. We have named these two-dimensional flatlands as:

ABOUT

This common operating style goes something like this. Let’s brainstorm about “how to” – raise more money, solve a problem, invent a new product, communicate, etc. Everyone enthusiastically offers ideas. As soon as the meeting is finished everyone gets right to work – setting the ideas into action.

OPPORTUNITY

This approach has skipped the “aim”. When there is no aim, or in other words – no value placed on planning, timing, budgets, and strategy – projects are often not on target. Consequently, people have great ideas, work really hard but often are not very successful. The reasons for their lack of success can usually be found in a lack of organization, co-ordination, timelines and resources.

This style goes something like this. Let’s research how we might go about “doing this”. A meeting is called and everyone is assigned to research projects, focus groups, task forces, planning committees etc. Plans and strategies are developed and reviewed by boards, staff, in-laws, friends, family, hairdressers, counselors, etc. After months, (hopefully not years) the plan gets put into action.

OPPORTUNITY

When projects do not include “ready” projects often lack inspiration, risk and creativity. When there is only “aim and fire”, “aim and fire”, “aim and fire”, you can literally shoot the life right out of a project. It becomes lifeless, dead and often there is little performance or success. People have once again worked very hard and yet often their projects fail.

This style values inspiration, ideas, and input and then needs to check out the viability of implementing these new ideas. There is often a lot of time consulting appropriate groups for feedback and then setting up planning and strategy committees to make recommendations about how to proceed. Unfortunately this process often takes a long time and the plans and strategies never get put into action because people, circumstances and enthusiasm have all shifted.

OPPORTUNITY

These projects never come off the page to see the light of day. People have worked hard investigating, brainstorming, reviewing, researching, writing and planning, but when the petal hit the metal, the engine was turned off usually because: people are frightened of implementing, or they don’t have the budget, or the people who originally supported the project have all left, etc.

No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it. We must learn to see the world anew.
